AMEN presented an evening of culture, discussion, and community engagement with Milena Mayorga, El Salvador’s ambassador to the United States at the time of the event.

The discussion focused on El Salvador’s public-safety efforts and economic reforms under President Nayib Bukele, including its adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender at that time.

Before becoming ambassador, Mayorga worked as a model and television presenter, including as the host of “Milena tu amiga.” The original announcement also highlighted her top-ten finish in the Miss Universe competition.

The event offered American conservatives an opportunity to discuss economic freedom and public safety, strengthen ties between the United States and El Salvador, and connect with Salvadoran American and other Latino communities in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.

Speaker biography

The following biography reflects Rachel Semmel’s roles as described in the March 2023 announcement.

At the time of the announcement, Rachel Semmel served as communications director at the Center for Renewing America.

She had spent more than a decade working with grassroots organizations, campaigns, and movement conservatives across the country. She had overseen press strategy, media relations, and issue advocacy for campaigns, organizations, members of Congress, and the White House.

Previously, she served as communications director at the White House Office of Management and Budget under Director Russ Vought. She managed the communications team’s day-to-day operations and led OMB’s communications strategy for some of President Donald J. Trump’s highest-profile policies.

Semmel began her career in the U.S. House of Representatives working for then-House Republican Conference Chair Mike Pence (R-IN).

She also served as communications director for two primary challengers in the 2014 election cycle: Matt Bevin for the U.S. Senate and Dave Brat for the U.S. House of Representatives.

She helped launch Conservative Review, CRTV, and the Mark Levin TV show, which later became part of Blaze Media, and served as a spokesperson.

Before working at the White House, she handled media relations and television training for District Media Group.

The original biography described Semmel as an Indiana native, a Purdue University graduate, and a resident of Washington, D.C.

The original announcement stated that two-day admission included meals and books. It offered attendees a discounted ticket price through AMEN’s registration link and the historical promo code AMEN2021.

The original flyer contained a tentative agenda. It listed the Friday general session at 3:00 PM, Saturday breakfast at 8:30 AM, and the Saturday main banquet at 7:00 PM. Other receptions and optional activities had separate times. All times were Eastern Time.
