Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 2026

American Minority Engagement Network (“AMEN,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you visit AMEN’s website at amenforamerica.org or its related pages, communicate with AMEN, volunteer with us, subscribe to our mailing list, participate in our programs, or otherwise interact with us online.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information that you voluntarily provide when you contact AMEN, sign up to volunteer, subscribe to our mailing list, register for an event, make a contribution, or otherwise communicate with us.

Depending on the activity, this information may include your name, email address, telephone number, mailing address or location, volunteer interests, skills or availability, event-registration information, comments, questions, and other information you choose to provide.

Our Contact page may collect information such as your first and last name, email address, subject, and message.

Our Volunteer forms may collect contact information, geographic information, volunteer interests, skills, availability, and comments.

Our mailing-list signup may collect your name and email address, along with information associated with your subscription or confirmation status.

2. Donations and Financial Information

AMEN currently accepts contributions through methods such as Zelle and mailed checks.

AMEN does not currently process credit-card payments directly through the AMEN website. When you make a contribution through a bank, Zelle, or another third-party financial service, that provider may collect and process financial information according to its own terms and privacy practices.

AMEN may receive transaction information reasonably necessary to identify, acknowledge, record, or administer a contribution, such as a donor’s name, contribution amount, date, memo, or other information accompanying the transaction.

AMEN is recognized as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to most Section 501(c)(4) organizations are generally not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.

3. Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our website, certain technical information may be collected automatically by WordPress, our hosting provider, security systems, or other technologies used to operate the website.

This may include your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, device information, operating system, referring website, pages visited, dates and times of visits, and similar technical information.

The website and services embedded in it may use cookies or similar technologies for functionality, security, and preferences. For example, an embedded Google Form or video may communicate with its provider when loaded and may use that provider’s cookies or collect technical information. Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a web browser and can recognize a device or remember a preference.

If we introduce analytics, advertising, or other tracking technologies that materially change these practices, we will update this Policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.

4. How We Use Information

AMEN may use information we collect to respond to inquiries and requests; communicate with volunteers; administer programs, events, and community activities; send newsletters and organizational updates to subscribers; maintain and improve our website; manage contributions and organizational records; prevent spam, fraud, abuse, or security incidents; comply with legal obligations; and otherwise carry out AMEN’s nonprofit mission and operations.

We seek to collect only information reasonably relevant to these purposes.

5. Mailing List and Email Communications

People may voluntarily subscribe to AMEN communications through online signup forms, physical signup sheets, events, and other opt-in methods.

AMEN uses Sender to manage its mailing list and distribute newsletters, event announcements, community updates, educational information, volunteer opportunities, and other organizational communications.

Submitting a Contact or Volunteer form, attending an event, or making a donation does not by itself enroll you in AMEN’s general mailing list. We request a separate signup or other appropriate permission.

Subscribers may unsubscribe from marketing or mailing-list communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link contained in the email or by contacting AMEN.

Sender processes subscriber details, subscription status, delivery records, and opt-out requests on AMEN’s behalf. Depending on campaign settings, it may also record whether emails were opened or links were clicked. We use any such information to understand and improve our communications. You may unsubscribe at any time.

Unsubscribing from AMEN’s mailing list does not necessarily prevent AMEN from sending administrative or one-to-one communications that are necessary to respond to a request, volunteer inquiry, transaction, or other existing relationship.

6. Forms and Third-Party Services

AMEN may use third-party services to operate portions of its website and communications.

AMEN uses WordPress with Namecheap EasyWP hosting; the Contact Form 7 plugin for website inquiries; Google Gmail for email communications; Google Forms and Google Sheets for volunteer and related organizational records; and Sender for mailing-list administration and email delivery. Banks, Zelle, and financial institutions handle contributions. Our website may also link to or embed social-media and media services such as Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube.

Contact Form 7 operates on AMEN’s WordPress website, and Contact form submissions are sent to AMEN by email. Volunteer submissions are handled separately through Google Forms and Google Sheets. Submitting a Contact inquiry does not add it to the Volunteer response spreadsheet.

Hosting, email, mailing-list, embedded-media, and financial providers may process information under their own privacy policies and terms. You can review the Google Privacy Policy, Namecheap Privacy Policy, and Sender Privacy Policy for information about those providers.

7. How We Share Information

AMEN does not sell or rent your personal information.

We do not provide your information to other organizations for their independent marketing or fundraising without your permission.

We may disclose information to service providers that help us host the website, administer forms, maintain records, communicate with supporters, operate email services, or provide other services on AMEN’s behalf.

We may also disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, court orders, governmental requests, protect AMEN’s legal rights or property, investigate fraud or misuse, or protect the safety and security of AMEN, its users, volunteers, supporters, or others.

We expect service providers handling information on AMEN’s behalf to use it for appropriate service-related purposes.

8. Data Retention

AMEN retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, for legitimate organizational and recordkeeping needs, or as required or permitted by law.

Mailing-list information may be retained while an individual remains subscribed and as reasonably necessary to maintain records of subscriptions, unsubscribes, and communication preferences.

Volunteer, Contact, event, and organizational records are retained for reasonable administrative, program, and recordkeeping needs. Donation records and a minimal record of an unsubscribe request may need to remain after other information is removed. Copies may remain in backups until those backups are replaced through normal retention processes.

9. Data Security

AMEN takes reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, misuse, or alteration.

However, no website, email service, transmission method, or data-storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Visitors should therefore avoid sending sensitive information through ordinary website contact forms unless specifically requested and appropriate.

10. Your Choices

You may unsubscribe from AMEN mailing-list communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link provided in our emails.

You may contact AMEN to ask about personal information we hold about you, or to request access, correction, deletion, or a change in communication preferences. We may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity. We will review requests under applicable law, taking account of legitimate recordkeeping, legal, and security needs. Additional rights depend on the law that applies to your circumstances.

Most web browsers also allow users to manage or restrict cookies through browser settings.

11. Children’s Privacy

The AMEN website is intended for a general audience and is not directed specifically to children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact AMEN so we can review the matter and take appropriate steps, including deletion where appropriate.

12. External Links

The AMEN website may contain links to websites, social-media services, government resources, organizations, or other third parties.

AMEN is not responsible for the privacy, security, content, or practices of third-party websites or services. Visitors should review the applicable privacy policies and terms when leaving the AMEN website.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

AMEN may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our website, services, technology, organizational practices, or applicable legal requirements.

The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
